The Pittsburgh-based Green Building Alliance prepared a report on the experience of architects and builders with the LEED green building rating system. This report includes some discussion of the difficulties faced in achieving the LEED credit for use of certified wood.
The USDA Forest Service has published a report summarizing the first three years of their annual inventory of Pennsylvania's forests. The report contains a wealth of information on the status and trends for all of the forests in the state, identifying adequate regeneration as a serious challenge in many of the state's forests.

This PA-CFPI report analyzes timber sales from the Pennsylvania State Forest system from 1998-2006 in terms of whether they were made to FSC-certified comapnies or not. It shows that FSC-certified companies are purchasing a larger percentage of state forest sales over time.
These two short profiles discuss strategies used to specify and source FSC wood to meet USGBC LEED standards. The first profile summarizes key steps in achieving the LEED MR7 credit, and the second provides successful case studies of projects that achieved the MR7 credit in New York and Pennsylvania.
